Getting to Aiverthwaite Cottage

Directions from M6 South

Leave the M6 J41 and follow for Wigton B5305. Keep on this road for 6 miles then take a left for Hesket Newmarket and Caldbeck on the B5299.

Travel through Hesket Newmarket and Caldbeck. Carry on heading for Uldale.

After a couple of miles turn right, signposted for Aspatria, Ireby and Mealsgate. Climb a short hill and cross a cattle grid. After a further mile take a left hand turning for Ireby. 1/4 mile down this long straight road, turn left signposted for Aughertree. After another half mile, having driven past Croft House Farm, you arrive at Aiverthwaite which is the left hand property in a block of three.

Directions from M6 North

Leave the M6 J42. Take the exit signposted for Dalston. After two miles, there is a staggered crossroads. Go straight over, signposted for Dalston and Welton.

Drive on until you cross a small, narrow bridge and reach a T-junction facing the Bridge End pub. Turn left for Caldbeck and Welton. Follow this road for 4 miles until you each a crossroads (passing through Welton en-route).

Go straight over at the crossroads, signposted for Caldbeck and Keswick (B5299). Follow this until you cross a cattle grid onto Caldbeck Common. After 2 miles you arrive at a T-junction. Turn right, signposted for Keswick, Ireby & Uldale.

Take the next turning right signposted for Aspatria, Ireby & Mealsgate. Climb a short hill and cross a cattle grid. After a further mile take a left hand turning for Ireby. 1/4 mile down this long straight road, turn left signposted for Aughertree. After 1/2 mile, having driven past Croft House Farm, Aiverthwaite is the on your right - left hand property in a block of three.
